WNY Apologetics

I've recently helped to organize a new apologetics group/ministry in Western New York that is dedicated to advancing the Gospel in our region through reason and argument. Our goal will be to defend the Christian beliefs in creation, the authority of the Bible, the nature of God, and so forth. We will seek to both engage the secular culture and inform the local church on the issues and seek to show them God's truth.

We've begun a blog related the (as yet unnamed) group. It can be found at:

If you're a Christian, please pray for our efforts.

I'd be interested to know some of the process by which you started the group: who you contacted, how you discovered interested parties, how many churches were involved (and were their pastors helpful) and so on. I might want to copy your ideas!

Thanks.

Tom,

I held an apologetics event at local college back in December. I gave out response cards and one of those returned was from a fellow who has been teaching apologetics in our area for 25 years.

I contacted him after the event to see if he'd want to start a study group. It turns out he knew all kinds of people around us who are likewise interested in apologetics.

We recruited several of them and I contacted a couple of people and we came up with a group of around 10-12 people all wishing to make an impact for Christ in our region through apologetics.

I would say just find one or two other people who like apologetics and see if they're interested in forming a group. Chances are they'll know others and it'll grow that way. Also, contacting local pastors might give you some leads in this respect.

Hope that helps.
